Finding Dinoland
Over fifty years ago, Sinclair Oil Company created a sensational exhibit of fiberglass dinosaurs called Dinoland. The exhibit debuted at the 1964-1965 New York World's Fair in Queens. Once the fair closed Sinclair continued to display its dinosaurs as a traveling exhibit that toured the United States on flatbed trucks from 1966 through the end of the decade.
Millions saw Sinclair’s Dinoland exhibit in New York or on tour.
Were you among them?

The Finding Dinoland project is an attempt to make sense of a cultural phenomenon. In addition to the short survey that you can find linked above, I am conducting longer interviews and creating an archive—family photos, ads, souvenirs—to create a snapshot of this moment.
